Therapy for your rebellious and creative inner spirit
My name is Toby Singer, LMSW. I’m a therapist and theatermaker who draws from both creative and healing traditions to support clients’ emotional growth. I work for the The Moses Collaborative.
My style is flexible and relational, informed by AEDP, psychodynamic theory, CBT, DBT, somatic techniques, mindfulness-based interventions, and humanism.
In my work, I help clients unravel old patterns, address attachment wounds, and foster growth from a holistic perspective. I offer a confidential and affirming environment where clients can be fully themselves—whether that means laughing, sitting with discomfort, or finding moments of clarity and healing.
I have a special corner in my heart for working with artists, creatives, innovators, and those whose artistic nature may be quietly tucked away, helping them to uncover what has been buried or silenced and reconnect with their authentic selves.
Outside of my clinical work, I compose musicals, produce records, cook elaborate meals, cheer for my lifelong favorite sports teams, and enjoy time with family, friends, and my dog.
In New York, I am supervised by Yuval Moses, LCSW.

Common questions
How long does therapy take?
Depending on your needs, psychotherapy can be short-term (less than six months) or long-term, depending on how chronic the issues are, the complexity of your challenges, and other factors. We can discuss on an initial phone call.
How frequent and long are sessions?
For most clients, I meet with them weekly. Sessions are usually 45 min, but 60 min is available.
Do you take insurance and what are fees?
Sessions are $225 for 45 min and $240 for 60 min. The Moses Collaborative does not take insurance but can provide a super bill for OON benefits.
What kinds of artistic work do you do?
When I’m not working with therapy or coaching clients, I’m a composer and musician working at the juncture of music and theater. My award-winning theatrical work has been produced off-Broadway and regionally, and has been featured in the New York Times and New York Magazine. I’m also in demand as a record producer for eclectic indie artists, while my choral arrangements and original compositions are in frequent use across the country.
